2013 Emmy Nominations

Here are my initial thoughts on the 2013 Primetime Emmy Nominations...

  • Netflix's House of Cards and Arrested Development got some love.  This is a game changer.  It means that regular network television not only has to compete with cable but now the internet.
  • Lots of fans are going to love Connie Britton and Kerry Washington getting Best Actress nominations.
  • I still can't believe that people watch Episodes.
  • The Supporting Categories for Drama are where it is at.
    • So excited for Jim Carter to be nominated as Mr. Carson from Downton Abbey.
    • Peter Dinklage is always awesome.
    • Mandy Patinkin as Saul on Homeland is equally awesome.  Toughest category ever!
    • Maggie Smith vs Emilia Clarke vs Christina Hendricks?!  Perhaps this is the toughest category?!
  • For Guest Actor...my vote goes to Rupert Friend from Homeland.
  • For Guest Actress...my vote goes to Diana Rigg from GoT but would be ok with Linda Cardellini winning for Mad Men or Jane Fonda for The Newsroom.
  • For Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series, GoT's The Rains of Castamere has to win.  Hands Down.
  • It's a shame that The Newsrooms's episode 5/1 was not nominated for Outstanding Writing.  It is probably the only thing that should of/could of beat The Rains of Castamere.
  • I am still surprised by all the Veep love.
  • For Outstanding Actor in a Comedy series, Adam Driver from Girls or Bill Hader from SNL better beat those Modern Family guys.  MF is overrated.
  • For Outstanding Actress in a Comedy series it has to be Mayim Bialik for The Big Bang Theory.  Amy Farrah Fowler needs to kick MF's butts!
  • The Sundance Channel's Top of the Lake got lots of love.
  • 30 Rock's The Rural Juror gets nominated for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics!
  • Happy that Mad Men, 30 Rock, Girls, Downton Abbey, The Voice, The Newsroom, Game of Thrones, The Big Bang Theory, and Homeland all got nominations.
