Foxcatcher

What I liked:

  • Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, and Mark Ruffalo all give wonderful performances.
  • It's based on a true story.
  • Hair, make up, and whoever made the prosthetics all did a fantastic job.

What I didn't like:
  • I am surprised that they cast Sienna Miller in such a small role.
  • A lot of people are talking about Carell's performance because they see it as a stretch for a comedic actor to play a serious part.  And a lot of people are talking about Ruffalo's performance because he is awesome as usual.  But not a lot of people are talking about Tatum's performance and I think that is the most transforming.  Tatum always plays the cute, fun, charming guy.  In this role, he was able to go dead behind the eyes and play a haunting and lonely man.
  • The story is slow moving and at times boring.
  • There has to be more to the story that they are not telling.  There is a lot of innuendo and hinting that something else might be going on behind the scenes.
