Moneyball

When a nerd meets a jock...
What I liked:

  • Brad Pitt was enjoyable to watch as Billy Beane.
  • Jonah Hill was a great supporting actor, playing the character of Peter Brand.
  • Philip Seymour Hoffman was almost unrecognizable.
  • Chris Pratt was great.  I just wish that he had more screen time.
  • The Cleveland Indians are talked about a lot.
  • The film is based on a true story and a book.
  • The story line is interesting. It's about business as much as it is about baseball.
  • I loved seeing the old footage of the games and players.
What I didn't like:
  • While the character of Billy Beane is a real life person, the character of Peter Brand is based on Paul DePodesta.  DePodesta did not want to be apart of the movie so for legal reasons, the character had to have a name change.
  • Billy's daughter, Casey (played by Kerris Dorsey) sings a song in the movie.  The song is called The Show and was written by Jason Reeves and Lenka Kripac.  The song was released in 2008.  The year in the movie was 2002.  There is no way that Casey would know this song.
  • Robin Wright had maybe 5 minutes of screen time.  Was more left on the cutting room floor?
  • While the Cleveland Indians get mentioned a lot, it's not always in a favorable way.  However, you can't argue with the facts.
Grade: B

  4. Are you looking a movie for the pleasure of it or to search for some errors to think that you are an expert in movie?
