The Ides of March

What I liked:
  • Could this cast get any better?  George Clooney, Ryan Gosling, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Evan Rachel Wood, Marisa Tomei, Jeffrey Wright, and Max Minghella?!  All gave solid performances.
  • Clooney did a fine job directing.
  • The story was interesting and smart.
  • The dialogue was fantastic.
  • The score was complimentary to what was on the screen.
  • O-H-I-O
  • It was partially filmed in Cincinnati and Oxford, OH.
  • The movie poster is superb.
  • I covet the coat that Gosling wore.
What I didn't like:
  • Tomei's character's hair style was less than desireable.
Grade: A-

  2. I'd vote for George Clooney! However, the film is full of holes in terms of behavior & motives, other than the obvious stereotypes of political ambition, idealism & corruption. The ending may be realistic, but it left alot to be desired in terms of closure. The acting is excellent, but the character development is lacking. For example, why would a young intern whose goal is obviously to sleep with powerful, attractive men not be on birth control? Other questions along these lines would give away too much, but there are alot of such puzzlements in this film.
