What I liked:
- Fantastic acting by Jean-Louis Trintigant and Emmanuelle Riva. Riva's Oscar nomination for Best Actress is rightfully deserved.
- Isabelle Huppert is convincing as their concerned daughter.
- I liked that they started towards the end, then go to the beginning of the story and play it through.
- Great directing by Michael Haneke.
- The subject matter is real and honest.
- The scenes are painfully orchestrated to show the everyday tasks of caring for an elderly loved one.
What I didn't like:
- The scenes are painfully orchestrated to show the everyday tasks of caring for an elderly loved one.
- It's extremely depressing and sad.
- While the film does show the unconditional love between Georges and Anne, your take away from the film is more about the complications of getting old and/or dying.
