Friends With Benefits

A modern day romantic comedy...

What I liked:

  • Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis had great chemistry together.
  • Yes, the story is predictable but they still made it fresh and enjoyable to watch.
  • The supporting cast rocked: Emma Stone, Andy Samberg, Rashida Jones, Bryan Greenberg, Patricia Clarkson, Richard Jenkins, Woody Harrelson, Jenna Elfman, Nolan Gould, Shaun White, and Masi Oka!
  • The soundtrack was pretty great.  Besides for Semisonic and Kris Kross there is also Death Cab for Cutie, Foster the People, and G. Love and Special Sauce, just to name a few.
  • It was the small details that made this movie special:
    • Making a crack at Katherine Heigl and The Ugly Truth
    • A pretty funny bit at John Mayer's expense
    • Graffiti art
    • Flash Mobs
    • Mila's necklace
    • The Third Eye Blind/Semisonic debate
  • Stay through the end of the credits to see some deleted scenes from the movie.

What I didn't like:

  • Not enough of Patricia Clarkson, Richard Jenkins, or Woody Harrelson.
  • How many of us that have friends that look like Mila or JT?
  • Is L.T. Kali fictional?  It appears to be a generic rip off of Banksy.  If anyone can find proof that L.T. Kali is real, please let me know.  In the meantime check out this.

  2. I think it's an obscure reference to Lt. Calley of the My Lai massacre of Viet Nam war. But I don't know for what reason it is there.

  5. I loved this movie, not your typical story line and you are totally correct, Justin and Mila have really good chemistry. It seemed natural, watch out Jessica Biel.
Woody was amazing in an unsual but some how believable roll.
I got slightly annoyed at the "I over heard the nasty things you said about me". It was a bit cliche.

  6. LT Kali is a real person, he is British though not American. The name LT Kali is somewhat of an anagram.
