Live Blogging the 2011 Academy Awards

Here we go...

  • Alec Baldwin!  It's like 30 Rock + Inception = Best Thing Ever!
  • James Franco has some killer dance moves.
  • Love Anne's dress.  Beautiful details!
  • Sounds like they are having some sound issues.
  • I could do without this family nonsense.
  • All this extra stuff is going to make this show last 6 hours!  Just announce the winner Hanks!
  • Winner: Art Direction - Alice in Wonderland
  • Winner: Cinematography - Inception
  • Kirk Douglas, settle down.  Old guy has some spunk left in him.  Wow dude!
  • Winner: Supporting Actress - Melissa Leo
  • Hailee Steinfeld was robbed!
  • JT, no one outside of Hollywood got that joke.
  • Mila is my pick for Best Dressed.

Live Blogging the Red Carpet for the Oscars

Watching E!

  • Giuliana Rancic's dress for the pre-pre show was ok from the top up.  Loved the print but the skirt was way too poofy for her.
  • Jennifer Lawrence looks stunning in a simple and sleek red dress.  Love the hair and make up. Calvin Klein for sure.
  • Ewwww...Melissa Leo...the lace over the gold....not liking that.  Not liking the hair.  She looked better yesterday at the Independent Spirit Awards in a lovely green dress.
  • Vava voom Mila Kunis!  Beautiful color.  Sexy neckline.
  • Why is Daphne Zuniga there?
  • Hailee Steinfeld looks age appropriate.  The little headband seems a little too casual.
  • Michelle Williams looks nice but I feel like I have seen her in this look before.
  • Do not care for Amy Adam's dress...I think it is the neckline with the necklace and the long hair.  Too much.
  • Mandy Moore...how old are you trying to be?  65?  You are a young and beautiful.  That dress color is so blah on you.  The lipstick color is too much.  Those earings look like something a grandmother would wear.  I hope you change into something before you perform.

Independent Spirit Awards

Joel McHale's opening monologue was hilarious.  All award shows should be on cable so people can say whatever they want.  McHale seemed very natural hosting.  Love a good Jack Wagner joke.

It's funny seeing everyone in sweaters and jackets.  Apparently people in SoCal don't know how to dress for 45* weather.

Hall Pass

What I liked:
  • Tyler Hoechlin.  Oh my.  Look how you have grown up since 7th Heaven.  Seeing you for your 5 minutes of screen time makes up for looking at Owen Wilson for 105 minutes.
  • Kathy Griffin.  I love your style and sense of humor.
  • Alyssa Milano.  Wish they would have given you a bigger role instead of bigger boobs.
  • Christina Applegate is just lovely.
  • Jason Sudeikis is fearless.  Is there nothing that this man won’t do or say?
  • Richard Jenkins!
  • There were some very funny parts.  Even I can laugh/cringe at a good fart joke.

I Am Number Four

I don’t know much about the Sci-fi/Alien/Comic book genre. Having said that….

What I liked:
  • Great Soundtrack. Kings of Leon, The Black Keys, Adele, The Temper Trap…
  • Timothy Olyphant!
  • Alex Pettyfer and Dianna Agron make a cute couple
  • A shout out to Bernie Kosar and the Cleveland Browns
  • It had some funny one liners.

Unknown

What I liked:  This was a fast paced suspense thriller with some interesting twists and turns.  Diane Kruger did well in this action role.  I could see her doing more films like this and perhaps replace Angelina Jolie as the girl who can kick butt.

Live Blogging the Grammys

  • That is a lot of Divas on one stage.  Let's hope that Christina doesn't forget the lyrics.
  • Florence kind of sticks out with the only light color dress.
  • Martina has a beautiful set of pipes.
  • It's not necessary for the announcer to tell us their names as they try to sing.  She's too slow and now she forgot to announce J-Hud.
  • Florence looks like she is having a ball up there.  It's refreshing that she hasn't become jaded with all of her success.
  • Looks like Christina fell at the end.
  • Yikes, Aretha.
  • Does Pat Monahan from Train own a comb?
  • Ricky, those pants are still wrong.
  • Lady Gaga's pointy shoulders are interesting.  Looks like her top is a little see-through.  Love the lighting effects.
  • Congratulations to The Black Keys for winning Best Alternative Album!
  • Hey ERY, Jay-Z and Alicia Keys won for Best Rap Song for Empire State of Mind.
  • Isn't that Kate Hudson's baby daddy?
  • Not loving this slow version of "Nothin' on You."
  • This doo-wop version of "Grenade" is interesting.  It is choreographed very well.
  • 2 awards in one hour?  It's going to be a long night.
  • Cheetah/Leopard print is big this year.  Especially for guys.  Strange.
  • What did they have to bleep out for Lady Gaga?!
  • Her outfit can't be comfortable to sit in.
  • She imagined Whitney Houston would be singing "Born This Way"?  Strange.

Live Blogging the Red Carpet for the Grammys

Watching the Red Carpet show on E!
  • I like B.o.B's red jacket.
  • Hate Monica's dress.
  • Not a fan of the dress that Florence from Florence and the Machine is wearing.  Like her voice though.
  • I wish Martina McBride would have worn color.  I don't care for her in black.
  • I kind of like Giuliana Rancic's dress.
  • Kathy Griffin looks nice but I would prefer less glitter.
  • Nicki Minaj looks ridiculous.  It's like she crossed Frankenstein with a Flinstone character.
  • Bruno Mars is rocking the old school look.
  • Not loving Ciara's dress.
  • I am ok with not seeing Lada Gaga until her performance.

Rango

I am not a parent.  I don't even hang out with any little kids yet I feel that this movie is inappropriate for children under the age of 35.

What I liked:  The animation was great.

Just Go With It

I went in thinking that I was going to hate this movie. I was pleasantly surprised.

What I liked:

  • The movie gets funnier as it goes on.
  • Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler had some pretty good chemistry.
  • The kids are funny, especially Griffin Gluck.
  • Nicole Kidman!  And she's funny.
  • Dave Matthews!  Yes, that one.  And he's hysterical.  I don't understand why they are not promoting Kidman and Matthews in the commercials and trailers.
  • Aniston and Brooklyn Decker are beautiful.

Super Bowl XLV

I am watching the Super Bowl for two reasons: The Commercials and Glee.  However, if I have to support a team, I am going with the Packers.

Now on to the good stuff...
I saw the trailer for The Priest. It's not the same one that is posted below, but you get the idea. I don't think that the name fits the film but it does look interesting and freaky.

Cuba Gooding Jr doing a Groupon commercial?!  The dude has an Oscar!  Someone get him on a show on HBO or Showtime or something!

What is Sam Elliott doing introducing the teams?!  He's from Sacramento.  I don't see a connection to either team or Dallas or football for that matter.

Yes, we get it.  Brooklyn Decker is super hot.
