Source Code

What I liked:

  • Jake Gyllenhaal is always easy on the eyes.  His acting was pretty good too.
  • I find Vera Farmiga to be charming.
  • The story was interesting if you can buy into the source code theory.
  • The special effects were cool.

Win Win

What I liked:

  • Paul Giamatti and Amy Ryan were great.  They played characters that could actually be found in the real world.
  • Bobby Cannavale brought just the right amount of humor to his scenes.
  • Alex Shaffer did very well in his first role.
  • The story felt like it could happen in real life.
  • There is a good mix of heartbreak and happiness.

Sucker Punch

What I liked:
  • It was a creative storyline.
  • The girls are cute.
  • Vanessa Hudgens didn't have many lines.
  • Don Draper!
  • Some of the special effects are cool.
  • The music video that runs through the credits is hilarious, although I don't think that it is meant to be.

The Lincoln Lawyer

What I didn't like:

  • It felt like it was a very long movie partly because it was a little slow at times and partly because I thought it was going to end about three times before it actually did.  It was only 2 hours though.
  • If you can hire a driver during the day, why can't you hire one for night?
  • Marisa Tomei, Frances Fisher, Bryan Cranston and William H. Macy should have been in it more.

Kill the Irishman

What I didn't like:
  • It wasn't filmed in Cleveland.
  • The dialog was at times, kind of weak.
  • The score of the movie was just ok.  The Irish song that they played a lot sounded like the song from Titanic.

Red Riding Hood

If you like Twilight, you will probably like this.  If you don't, well then...

What I liked:

  • The score of the movie was good.  It seem to fit the scenes without giving too much away.
  • It looked nice.  The red cloak against the white snow ground and the green trees.  All very pretty.  Although I am sure 90% of it was computer generated.

Take Me Home Tonight

What I liked:

  • Topher Grace was a lovable, clueless dude and the underdog that you can't help but root for.
  • I am not a fan of Anna Faris but I didn't mind her in this role.
  • Chris Pratt
  • It was more of a romantic comedy than I thought it would be.

Cedar Rapids

What I liked:
  • The storyline was ok.  It is a little different than most films that are out there right now.
  • It had some good laughs.
  • It's nice to see actors who look like regular people.
  • All the actors did a fine job.  They were all believable in their roles.

Beastly

What I liked:

  • The soundtrack was alright.  Bonus points for playing Death Cab for Cutie's Transatlanticism.
  • Dakota Johnson is a diamond in the rough.  She has been taking a few small roles (like here and in The Social Network) and is working on her skills.  She could be the next "It" girl.
  • The overall message of the story is clearly geared towards the Tween generation.  Anyone older then that will see right through all of the holes in this film.
