What I liked:
- Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton play convincing want-to-be parents.
- CJ Adams is super cute and talented.
- Great supporting cast: Rosemarie DeWitt, Shohreh Aghdashloo, David Morse, M. Emmet Walsh, Lois Smith, Dianne Wiest, Ron Livingston, Common and Odeya Rush.
- One lesson that is taught - Be careful what you wish for.
- Glen Hansard has a song in the credits.
What I didn't like
- Not sure what the target demographic is for this film. Parts are way to deep or sad for kids (a couple can't conceive, there is a death of a grandparent, loss of a child, etc.). It could also be depressing for adults who are in similar situations with trying to have a child.
- It's not very funny and most likely won't hold a young child's attention.
- Spoiler ahead...It seems like a dark and twisted story line to give this couple their perfect child for a few months only to take him away. It was hard enough to explain how this child came to be, now how do you explain that he is gone?
- One of the lessons that can be learned is "It will all work out in the end". Spoiler alert....Not sure using an adoption story is the best example of this. I am sure people that are trying to adopt will say that it is not that easy. It can take a lot of time and money. This movie makes it look like it's nothing.
